NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Scientists at the National Institutes of Health (news - web sites) (NIH) announced on Tuesday that they have sequenced the genome of Porph-yromonas gingivalis, the bacterium that plays a major role in adult gum disease.
The organism is the first oral disease-causing bacterium to be completely sequenced, according to the NIH.

What does CHGC do


   Chinese National Human Genome Center at Shanghai was established in Shanghai on March 4th, 1998 and hung out its brass plate on October 29th,1998. The Center is supported by National MST, Municipal Government and Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).The Center is located in Shanghai Zhang-jiang Hi-Tech Park Of Pudong New Area, and is administratively under the direction of Shanghai Commission of Science and Technology.
